Evcil hayvanlar (Pets) ünitesi için hazırladığımız bu Memory Game (Hafıza Oyunu), kelime öğrenimini görsel hafıza becerileriyle birleştiriyor. Kapalı kartların altında yatan evcil hayvanların İngilizce karşılıklarını ve görsellerini zihinde tutmak, öğrencilerin odaklanma sürelerini artırırken kelimeleri de doğal yollarla öğrenmelerini sağlıyor.
This Memory Game, prepared for the Pets unit, combines vocabulary learning with visual memory skills. Keeping the English equivalents and visuals of the pets hidden under the face-down cards in mind increases students' focus time while allowing them to learn words naturally.
🕹️ Nasıl Oynanır? / How to Play?
Öğretmeninizin rehberliğinde iki kişi karşılıklı oynayabilirsiniz. Sıra size geldiğinde iki kart açın. Eğer eşleştirme doğruysa oynamaya devam edersiniz ve yeni bir çift daha açma hakkı kazanırsınız. Eğer kartlar eşleşmezse, sıra rakibinize (diğer oyuncuya) geçer. Oyunun sonunda en çok kartı eşleştiren taraf oyunu kazanır!
You can play mutually with two people under the guidance of your teacher. When it's your turn, flip two cards. If the match is correct, you continue to play and earn the right to flip another pair. If the cards do not match, the turn passes to your opponent (the other player). At the end of the game, the one who matches the most cards wins the game!

A sweet competition gets involved in this game! However, the key to winning is not only being very careful during your turn but also during your opponent's turn. When your opponent fails to match and closes the cards, carving the locations of those cards into your memory should be your biggest strategy. Focusing while patiently waiting for your turn and finally winning by making the most matches turns English learning into a great mental sport.

Takım Turnuvaları (Inclusive Education): Sınıfı A ve B takımı olarak iki büyük gruba ayırın. Her elde farklı iki temsilciyi akıllı tahtaya kaldırarak "Sıralı Hamle" (Turn-based) mekaniği ile oynatın. Tahtaya kalkan öğrenciler takımları adına hamle yaparken, tüm sınıfın sürece dahil olmasını sağlamış olursunuz.
Team Tournaments (Inclusive Education): Divide the class into two large groups as Team A and Team B. Bring two different representatives to the smart board in each hand and let them play with the "Turn-based" mechanic. As the students at the board make a move on behalf of their teams, you ensure that the entire class is involved in the process. -
Sesli Söyleme Kuralı (Dual Coding): Öğrencilerin sadece görselleri eşleştirmesi yeterli olmamalıdır. Kartı çeviren öğrenci gördüğü evcil hayvanın İngilizcesini yüksek sesle telaffuz etmek zorunda olsun. Bu sayede görsel veri, işitsel veri ile eşzamanlı olarak kodlanır (Dual Coding) ve pasif oyun aktif öğrenmeye dönüşür.
Speaking Aloud Rule (Dual Coding): It shouldn't be enough for students to just match visuals. Have the student flipping the card pronounce the English name of the pet they see out loud. Thus, visual data is encoded simultaneously with auditory data (Dual Coding), and passive play turns into active learning. -
Zihinsel Egzersiz (Retrieval Practice): Hafıza oyunları, bilginin zihinden geri çağrılmasının (Retrieval) en somut hallerinden biridir. Sınıf içinde sessizlik sağlayarak öğrencilerin odaklanmasına izin verin. Geri çağırma sürecindeki bu zihinsel çaba, kelimenin kalıcı belleğe yerleşmesini sağlayan en önemli faktördür.
Mental Exercise (Retrieval Practice): Memory games are one of the most concrete forms of retrieving information from the mind. Allow students to focus by maintaining silence in the classroom. This mental effort during the retrieval process is the most important factor that ensures the word settles into permanent memory.
