Year 2 Book 5 - Interactive Video / Where is Mimi?

Where is Mimi? A Gamified Story & Vocabulary Experience

Welcome to a brand new interactive learning adventure! "Where is Mimi?" is not just a standard listening activity; it's a fully gamified experience designed to captivate young English learners. In this interactive story, students will join the search for Mimi the cat and her animal friends while actively solving puzzles right on the screen!

Target Vocabulary & Interactive Challenges

This digital material seamlessly weaves together essential vocabulary themes: Pets (cat, dog, bird, rabbit, goldfish), Animal Body Parts (whiskers, claws, tail, beak), Rooms of the House, and Prepositions of Place (in, on, under).

Instead of passive watching, the video automatically pauses at key moments and prompts learners to interact. They will spell animal names using floating letters, drag and drop puzzle pieces to build sentences like "Mimi has got whiskers and claws," answer True/False questions, and complete fill-in-the-blank texts. Every correct move is rewarded with a satisfying "Bingo!" and continuous video playback.

💡 Tip for Teachers: The 3-Stage Gamified Lesson Plan

To get the most out of this interactive tool on your smartboard, follow this active learning strategy:

  • 1. Pre-Activity (Predicting & Brainstorming): Before starting the game, show some animal silhouettes or partial pictures of body parts (like a tail or whiskers). Ask the students, "What animal is this?" and "Where do pets hide in a house?" to activate their background knowledge.
  • 2. During-Activity (Collaborative Play): Play the interactive video on the smartboard. Whenever a game pops up (like spelling or matching), do not answer it yourself! Invite different students to come up to the board and tap the correct letters or drag the puzzle pieces. If they make a mistake, let their classmates help them out.
  • 3. Post-Activity (Creative Production): Give the students a task to design their own "Crazy Pet." Have them draw it and write a short presentation using the structures they just practiced: "This is my pet. It is a [animal]. It has got [body parts]. It is [color], and it is [in/on/under] the [room]." ▶ PLAY THE INTERACTIVE GAME
